What is Pashu Kisan Credit Card (PKCC)?
It helps farmers to secure loans for animal husbandry at a low-interest rate. This card not only helps the farmers earn money but also helps to boost the animal husbandry business. The RBI has extended the Pashu Kisan Card services for working capital requirements for activities related to animal husbandry and fisheries.
Pashu Kisan Credit Card Scheme:
The Haryana Government launched the PKCC Scheme to provide cattle farmers loans. To avail of the loan amount, animal owners must have a Pashu Kisan Credit Card.
Haryana is the first state in our country to implement this scheme. Initially, PKCC has distributed among 101 Bhiwani in Haryana. The Government aims to provide a ten lakhs card by March 2021.
Under this scheme, loans provide to farmers involved in breeding cows, buffaloes rearing, goat rearing, sheep rearing, poultry rearing, and fish farming. It would be best if you had a PKC Card to apply for a loan. To get the loan, one must ensure their cattle beforehand, and Rs.100 has to pay for the same.

Features of Pashu Kisan Credit Card:
The features of the PKCC scheme has given below.
Loan amount:
Livestock owners can get a maximum loan amount of up to ₹ three lakhs. This scheme provides ₹40,783 for the cow, ₹60,249 for each buffalo, ₹4063 for goats and sheep. Further, the PKCC scheme provides ₹720 for chickens (laying eggs). Further, no guarantee has required for a loan up to ₹1.6 lakhs.
Instalment Pattern:
The Pashu Kisan Credit Card scheme offers loans to cattle farmers in 6 equal instalments.
Interest Rate:
Banks or financial institutions usually offer loans at a 7% interest rate. However, under this scheme, livestock owners must pay a 4% interest charge.
Rebate:
Cattle owners may get a rebate of 3% from the Central Government.
Repayment Period:
This scheme comes with a repayment period of 5 years, meaning cattle owners need to repay the loan amount within five years with the applicable interest charge.

Who are eligible to Apply for a Pashu Kisan Credit Card?
Farmers who either do not own or have less land and are involved in livestock rearings, such as cows, buffalo and goats, can apply for the scheme and avail of the benefits. In addition, this scheme applies to cattle farmers who belong to the weaker section and sell their animals due to financial weakness or incapacity to pay for the treatment cost when the animal gets ill.
Eligibility Criteria for a Pashu Kisan Credit Card Yojana:
The eligibility criteria of the Pashu Credit Card Yojana vary from one category to another as per the type of cattle farming. These include,
Poultry and Small Ruminants:
- Farmers
- Joint Liability Groups
- Self-Help Groups (tenant farmers of poultry/pigs/rabbit/goats/sheep/ birds/who have owned/leased/rented sheds)
- Poultry farmers (individual or joint borrower)
Dairy:
- Farmers
- Joint Liability Groups
- Self-Help Groups (tenant farmers having owned/leased sheds rented)

Fishery:

Note: Beneficiaries must lease or own any fisheries-related activities like rearing unit, tank, pond, raceway, open water bodies, and hatchery. They must have a licence for fish farming and fishing-related activities.

- Fish Farmers (individuals, partners, tenant farmers, groups, and sharecroppers)

- Self Help Groups
- Women groups
Note: Beneficiaries must lease or own a registered fishing vessel or registered boat. In addition, they must have a fishing licence. Further, they must have permission for fish in the sea, estuary, and fish farming/mariculture activities in estuaries.
