Sankranti

Sankranti also known as Makar Sankranti or Uttarayan or Maghi. In Bangladesh also this festival celebrated as Poush Sankranti dedicated to the deity Surya. Every year on the Sankranti day the sun enters the Capricorn zodiac sign which is in the month of January. It is also a harvest festival for many states in India. Sankranti is an important solar festival in pan-India. People celebrate Sankranti with different customs in different states. The festival lasts for two to four days with different names. It is also a festival of flying kites, feasts, bonfires, etc.
