The Swasthya Sathi scheme is applicable from 1st December 2020 as per the announcement of the Bengal Chief Minister. Mamta Banerjee also announced that the government of West Bengal State gave the entire amount for Health Scheme.

Benefits of Cashless Health Scheme
7.5 crore people in West Bengal state are enrolled under the cashless health scheme. Based on the announcement by the Chief Minister of the West Bengal state, every family in the state is covered by this scheme.
The Chief Minister of West Bengal also announced that the Central Government would give 60% to the Ayushman Bharat Yojana.
Still, this cashless health scheme will give 100% to the state government. The main benefit provided by this scheme is through the smart card.
A smart card is given to every family, which was applicable in both government and private hospitals in West Bengal.
Rate Concerns of Swasthya Sathi Smart Card
Under the swasthya Sathi scheme, health insurance up to Rs 5 lakh is provided by the government of West Bengal state for all the beneficiaries. On 27th December 2020, we had a meeting between health officials and private hospitals.
The representatives of private hospitals have discussed the treatment rates under the Swasthya Sathi cashless scheme.
They agree for the rates under the Swasthya Sathi scheme are very low. The president association of eastern India Roopak Barua hospitals in Bengal state has announced that the media people about the meeting are fruitful and very positive.
The government and private healthcare service providers have discussed the importance of Health Insurance.

Objectives of Rashtriya Swasthya Bima card
The main objective behind launching this Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana is to help West Bengal people give cashless treatments. However, the Swasthya Sati scheme was previously announced by the West Bengal Chief Minister in 2016.
It covers secondary and tertiary care for up to 5 lakh rupees per year per family in the West Bengal state.
Thus, the Swasthya Sati Card expanded for all the people of the West Bengal state irrespective of their financial status or background.
Swasthya Sathi Smart Card 2022
Swasthya Sathi smart card is given to the senior-most female member of every eligible household in the scheme. With this smart card, people will get all health benefits across private or public government hospitals.
No other specific eligibility criteria are needed for this scheme because it has been expanded to all of the state’s families.
The government of West Bengal has spent around 2000 crore rupees as an annual expenditure, especially for this cashless health scheme. Smart cards help families with different treatments without paying the hospital authorities.
