The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) provides modern facilities for sports in different parts of the city. People can visit the GHMC Sports website to register, log in, and book a GHMC sports slot. Many sports also need facilities, such as GHMC sports playgrounds.
These efforts are to develop sports infrastructure to improve the efficiency and skill of traditional and modern games and collectively contribute to sports development.
The civic body has taken up 18 developmental projects at an estimated cost of Rs 87 crore, including modernising sports facilities such as indoor stadiums, swimming pools, etc., and completing eight projects for setting up multipurpose sports grounds.

GHMC SPORTS
According to the GHMC, the officials are taking the necessary steps to make these facilities available to the public in every way possible.
Among others-

- The sports complex at Katedan
- swimming pool at Sachivalaya Nagar in Vanasthalipuram,
- The football stadium at Barkas is one of the four facilities where construction is underway briskly.
The sports have already brought four sports facilities into use, and according to the officials, the remaining projects are at different stages of implementation.
The infrastructure in the whole city encourages budding sports talent by providing them with a platform through the State government. These facilities are excellent, with the services offered by private ones.
In addition to the seven swimming pools, there are 12 sports complexes and 521 playgrounds in the GHMC limits. According to the higher authorities, the sports facilities are also generating revenue so far, and from April 2021 to December 2021, over Rs 90 lakh was generated by leasing these facilities.
“The GHMC charges a nominal fee to make available the sports facilities that can be utilised by everyone from all sections of society, especially those with low income. Even though they charge a lower fee structure, a good revenue will be generated,” said the official of GHMC
GHMC Complexes:
- Out of the 19 sports complexes, all the sports facilities, swimming pools and seven complexes are worth Rs 22.11 crore.
- The work of the rest of them is in progress. The engineering authorities are working hard to complete it as soon as possible so that it can be brought to the public without complaints.
- These complexes will have every sports activity, indoor and outdoor games for children.
- Few coaches will be assigned to train the interested children in various sports.
- To motivate and create awareness for the children and adults to join the GHMC sports complexes, they will generate awareness drives to be taken up in educational institutions, including schools and colleges.
- These complexes, especially for adults and children, are being provided to enable local athletes to get trained in modern and traditional sports and adults who aspire to become sportspeople.
- The state government will provide gym equipment or accessories for all sports activities and games.
