How to Apply for Pollution Under Control Certificate Online?

VAHAN or PUC portal of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways authorizes you to download your vehicle’s latest Pollution Under Control certificate. Here’s how you can do it.

• Visit the Vahan or PUC Parivahan.
• Go to the Menu option.
• Click on the ‘PUC Certificate’ option.

• Enter the registration number and the last five digits of your vehicle’s chassis number.
• Enter the security code shown below.
• Click on the ‘PUC Details’ button.
• It will display the recently issued PUC certificate for your vehicle. You can print a certificate duplicate by clicking on ‘Print’.

Note that you can only use this method to download the existing PUC certificate for your vahan. To apply for or renew a new certificate for your car, you need to visit an authorized emissions testing centre along with your vehicle.

Getting a Pollution Under Control Certificate for your vehicle is elementary. All you want to do is follow the steps given below.

• Take your vehicle to an authorized emission testing centre.
• An emissions test centre operator will perform the test by placing a probe into your vehicle’s exhaust while the engine is running.
• They recorded the emissions from your vehicle’s exhaust.
• The operator will generate a PUC certificate with the emission readings for your vehicle.
• Pay the required fee to the operator and collect the certificate.

How to Check Your PUC Certificate Status Online?

You can quickly check the PUC certificate status of your vehicle online through Vahan Portal. Below is the process you need to follow to do this.

• Visit Vahan Portal and click on ‘Application Status‘.
• Enter details like the Application ID and enter the security code.
• Next, click on ‘View Application Details’.
• It will display the status of your vehicle’s PUC certificate. 
• You can print or download a copy by clicking on the ‘Print’ button.

What is the emission test procedure to get PUC Certificate?

The vehicle emission test process is simple and takes little time to complete. Here’s a simplified step-by-step of the entire process from start to finish.

• Take your vehicle to an authorized emissions testing centre.
• Park your car as per the test centre operator’s instructions.
• The operator inserts a lengthy probe into your vehicle’s exhaust pipe.
• You should start the car and rev the engine lightly.
• The probe records and measures the number of emissions from the vehicle’s exhaust.
• Results had transmitted to a computer connected to the test machine.
• The centre operator will take a picture of your vehicle’s registration plate.
• A PUC certificate is generated for your car if its emissions are within permissible limits.

Can you renew the PUC Certificate online?

Unfortunately, you cannot renew the PUC Certificate for your vehicle online. Instead, you can only download your current certificate copy through the Vahan portal.

PUC Certificate Rules in India
