Four types of ration cards are there for the EPDSBihar government to the citizens.
BPL, APL, AAY, and Annapurna Ration Cards
BPL: These cards are issued to households below the poverty line and with family income less than Rs 10000 annually. These cards come in red.
APL: APL Ration cards are issued to people above the poverty line with a family income of less than Rs 24000 annually. The Colour of the card is blue.
AAY: Anthyodaya Anna Yojana Ration cards issued to the poorest of low-income families. These are yellow.
Annapurna Ration Cards, given to the old-age pensioners of Bihar state.

The eligibility criteria for applicants who want to apply for the new Ration Card are as follows:
- Applicants must be permanent residents of Bihar and also possess a domicile certificate.
- Applicants should not have a ration card before.
- Couples who got married can apply for a new ration card.
- If applying for a particular ration card, applicants must fall under the income bracket of that specific card.

How to Apply for Bihar Ration Card?
- To apply for the Bihar ration card, the applicants first visit the official website, download the application form, or visit the nearest SDO office/Circle office and get the application form.
- Fill out the application form with the necessary details and attach the documents required with the application.
- Attach the family head and other family members’ photographs, verified surrender/deletion certificate from gazetted officer/MLA/MP/Municipal Councillor, etc.
- If they do not have address proof, the Circle FSO/SI/MO will conduct an inquiry, and the statement will record along with two independent witnesses of the neighbourhood.
- After taking all the information, check the application form, and submit it at any Circle office/SDO office.

- To check the ration card list, first, people must visit the official website of EPDS Bihar.
- On the home page, click on RCMS, which is on the left side of the page.
- A new page opens where the applicants must select the district and click on show.
- Click on the urban or rural number to learn about the ration card details.
- If Urban is selected, a new page opens where the applicants must choose the town and the ward. We can see all the ration card lists displayed on the screen.
- Check with the family head’s name and click on the ration card number.
- All the applicant details with family and photos will display. Take a print by clicking on the print page.
- If Rural is selected, a new page appears where the applicant must choose block, Panchayat, and Village. We can see all the ration cards in that particular Village.

- All the family members and their details, with photos and other information, will display on the screen.
- Take a printout of the ration card by clicking on the print page.

- To download the e-Challan of EPDS Bihar, visit the official website.
- On the home page, click on services and select download e-Challan from the drop-down.
- Now it redirects to the other page with the e-Challan form.
- Fill the form with a Unique Reference number or select district, block, Panchayat, month, year, or scheme, and click on search.
- The e-Challan appears on the screen. People can also download e-Challan.
